V- CARIE- SOLVE is a chemo mechanical caries removal (CMCR)agent containing a purified enzyme derived from the plant “ Caprica Papaya “ (papaya) along with added benefit of therapeutic essential oils. This gel system is specially designed for removal of carious dentin by using only the hand instruments and minimizing the use of rotary instruments. It can also be used after conventional cavity preparation for removing the caries remnants in the inaccessible areas. It is useful for anxious patients, uncooperative children, wide cavities, carious lesions encroaching the pulp and teeth indicated for indirect pulp capping.

The product V- CARIE- SOLVE is a gel based on Papaya extract which is rich in papain, a proteolytic enzyme, which has anti- bacterial and anti- inflammatory properties. Papain acts as a debris removing agent, with no harmful effect on sound dental tissues because of the enzyme specificity. It acts only on carious tissues, which lack the alpha – 1, anti trypisin, a plasmatic anti protease systems, thus inhibiting proteolysis. The absence of this protease allows papain to break the partially degraded collagen molecules of infected dentin. The papain also promotes chemical debridement process. In addition to Papain, the chloramines present in the product can dissolve carious dentin by means of chlorination of the partially degraded collagen. Hence, chloramines help to soften the carious dentin, thus facilitating its removal. The mechanism affects the collagen structure, dissolving hydrogen bonds and thus facilitating tissue removal.

Another important ingredient in V- CARIE- SOLVE is clove oil (in a blend of therapeutic essential oils), which is natural analgesic and anti- septic, used in dentistry primarily for its soothing effect. Clove is rich in minerals such as calcium, hydrochloric acid, iron, phosphorous,Sodium,Potassium,Vitamin A and Vitamin C. The high levels of eugenol contents in clove essential oil are responsible for its strong biological and antimicrobial activities. Both eugenol and clove essential oil, phenolic compounds, can denature proteins and react with cell membrance. Phospholipids changing their permeability and inhibiting bacterial growth. The analgesic effects of eugenol containing clove essential oil has been attributed to its capability to suppress prostaglandins and other inflammatory mediators such as leukotrienes.

• Product Benefit

V- CARIE- SOLVE is a unique gel with natural enzyme fractions in it, which, selectively softens the infected dentin in few seconds that can be scraped off by gentle excavation using a spoon excavator. It doesn’t impact sound dentin structure. It is effective in dentin restorative procedures with an added advantage of a natural anti- inflammatory and analgesic compound in it, which, reduces pain perception during/post operative procedures. The product can be used for root caries, deep decays and decays in children. It can also be used as caries solvent. It is a single sitting application with similar application time, as, conventional drilling method.

V- CARIE- SOLVE is of best quality, cost effective and MAKE IN INDIA, however, all the similar products available are imported, expensive and not readily available.

• How to Use

1. Remove hard substance such as enamel or old fillings with the use of drill.
2. Put 1 or 2 drops of V-CARIE- SOLVE in to the space provided in the inner tray.
3. Apply the gel to the carious dentin using applicators provided in the pack.
4. Soak the caries generously in V- CARIE- SOLVE
5. Wait for 30 -60 seconds. The chemical process will soften the caries.
6. Scrap off the softened carious dentin using a multi star head hand instrument. Avoid flushing or drying the cavities.
7. If the lesions soaked with V-CARIE-SOLVE is not free from caries, continue scrapping. Repeat until the surface feels hard.
8. When the cavities are free from caries, wipe the cavities with the moistened cotton pallet or rinse it with the lukewarm water.
9. Restore the tooth with the suitable filling material.
